Stargate Project U.S: Army Investigations of Psychic Phenomena
The Stargate Project was a secret U.S. Army unit established in 1978 at Fort Meade, Maryland, by the Defense Intelligence Agency [DIA] and SRI International [a California contractor] to investigate the potential for psychic phenomena in military and domestic intelligence applications. The project, and its precursors and sister projects, originally went by various code names – 'Gondola Wish', 'Stargate', 'Grill Flame', 'Center Lane', 'Project CF', 'Sun Streak' & 'Scanate' – until 1991 when they were consolidated and rechristened as the "Stargate Project".
The Stargate Project's work primarily involved remote viewing, the purported ability to psychically "see" events, sites, or information from a great distance. The project was overseen until 1987 by Lt. Frederick Holmes "Skip" Atwater, an aide and "psychic headhunter" to Maj. Gen. Albert Stubblebine, and later president of the Monroe Institute. The unit was small scale, comprising about 15 to 20 individuals, and was run out of "an old, leaky wooden barracks".
The Stargate Project was terminated and declassified in 1995 after a CIA report concluded that it was never useful in any intelligence operation. Information provided by the program was vague and included irrelevant and erroneous data, and there were suspicions of inter-judge reliability. The program was featured in the 2004 book and 2009 film, both titled The Men Who Stare at Goats, although neither mentions it by name.
As you can see from the above,Wikipedia state the army unit [15 to 20 individuals] was set up in 1978 & disbanded in 1995 . So It took them 17 years, quite a few “precursors”, “sister projects” &, oh yeah ….. $20m to come to the conclusion that StarGate was “never useful in any intelligence operation” & “Information provided by the program was vague”.
The film mentioned is a comedy: The Men Who Stared At Goats: 2009 - [No need to comment on the cast] & in ‘Further Reading' the first listing is a book called: “The Encyclopedia of Conspiracy Theories”
So, as you can see Wikipedia has, of course, played down both it's existence & accomplishments considerably [which means it's worth looking into further 🔎]

The Stargate Project
The first long-term use of remote viewing as a technique, the “Star Gate Project,” is the largest funded program in the history of parapsychological research. The project was funded with approximately $20 million in grants over a period of more than 20 years (1972 to 1995).
Researchers from Stanford Research Institute (SRI) and later Science Applications International Cooperation (SAIC) participated in this program in collaboration with various U.S. intelligence agencies. The research focused on understanding the applicability and nature of PSI phenomena in general, but primarily on the fundamentals of informational PSI. Remote viewing provided actionable information on a total of about 500 separate reconnaissance missions from 1973 to 1995, and the associated logs can be viewed to a large extent today in the CIA’s public archives.

MOVIE ABOUT PSYCHIC RESEARCH: THIRD EYE SPIES [2019]
“The true story of Russell Targ and America's cold war psychic spies, disclosed and declassified for the first time, with evidence presented by a Nobel Laureate, an Apollo Astronaut, and the military and scientific community that has been suppressed for nearly 30 years, now able to speak for the first time. Targ's understated mantra that "the evidence for extra sensory perception is overwhelming and shows a talent we all share and deserve to know about, leaves us not just with a greater understanding of this unique chapter in U.S. history, but perhaps most importantly a greater understanding of who we are and our larger connection to the world. The CIA”
